Dave Smeds of Santa Rosa, California is the author of the novels The Sorcery Within and The Schemes of Dragons (both Ace). His short fiction has appeared in many markets, including TOTU #2 and #6. He writes, "After more than three years of virtual retirement from fiction writing while I put my wife through nursing school, my financial situation has turned around. I have recently gone to writing full time. My latest novel, Goats, a full-length version of the story I had in In the Field of Fire, will be on its way to prospective publishers within the month, and with any luck my short fiction will begin appearing all over the place in the next year or so. The four stories I've completed since my reactivation have all sold (at 20 cents per word)-to Club International, a men's magazine-and I basically feel like a prisoner out of his cage." |
