John W. Taylor: |
(08/15/1986) |
John W. Taylor is an associate professor of English and Linguistics at South Dakota State University, Brookings. He has taught composition, linguistics, science fiction and film studies, and has published articles about linguistics and about George Orwell's 1984. He is a member of the PKD Society, and edits a National Fantasy Fan Federation publication, The Prairie Timebinder. He recently wrote this magazine's editor, "Right now I am in the midst of teaching a Freshman 101 course... three weeks, three hours a day, five days a week with a class of all engineering students. They happen to be Chinese Malaysians as well. I feel like an alien sometimes trying to explain American English and American culture to a group of outsiders." |
