David Starkey: |
(04/01/1992) |
David Starkey of Blacksburg, Virginia, writes, "I was born in 1952 in Wytheville, Virginia, and have lived in various parts of Virginia all my life. My first story appeared in 1985 (in Twisted #1). Since then, my stories have appeared in Grue, Fantasy Macabre, Tales by Moonlight 11 (Tor Books,1989), The Mage, 2AM Magazine, DeathRealm, Cemetery Dance, New Blood, and Noctulpa, among others. I'd love to say that my sales have made me wildly rich, but, alas, I tend to earn money so that I can write (rather than the other way around), and I'm currently a data entry operator. I've also been employed in various labs as a technician. In one lab, I embalmed horses and curated a bone museum. In another, I extracted enzymes from fungi. I was also a middle-school science teacher for a couple of years. The last book I read was Robert Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and I never worked so hard to read a book that had not been assigned in class." |
