Larry E. Barbe lives in Metairie, Louisiana. He writes, "I took a course on writing science fiction taught by George Alec Effinger two years ago and have been a member of his writing workshop which meets monthly in New Orleans ever since. It's been quite a learning experience. `Beanie' is my first, and so far, my only sale. Last year I took a new position as laboratory manager at a local hospital. I also started graduate school, working on a master's degree in healthcare administration. What little writing I still do is usually late at night, after my wife and kids go to sleep (the fact that the boys in `Beanie' are approximately the same age as my three boys is, of course, strictly coincidental)." |
