James Jamison: |
(12/27/1992) |
James Jamison was born on December 12, 1951, in Topeka, Kansas, and grew up in the Los Angeles area. He moved to Minnesota in 1975, lives with his wife, the former Joan Cushman, in St. Louis Park, MN, and works as a draftsman. He has an associate of arts degree from Santa Monica College, but his art has been largely self-taught. He has been drawing and painting since childhood; his preferred medium is colored pencil, although he has done extensive work in oils. Presently, much of his work has a religious theme, although he began his career as a surrealist. His work has been exhibited extensively in the Los Angeles and Santa Monica areas. He had two one-man shows in the old Rainbow Cafe in Minneapolis, and has shown work in art shows. He did extensive illustrating for the company magazine of a former employer, and has done several illustrations for Minnesota Fantasy Review and TOTU. One of his striking surrealist paintings was used for the cover of TOTU #8. |
