Ruth Urban: |
(08/11/1993) |
Ruth Urban was driven to creating art by the pressures of raising four sons. Imagination suits her better than a reality of teen appetites, mummified night-crawlers, and sibling wars. Urban accepts TOTU's pitifully inadequate stipends for illustrations because she is accustomed to working for male ingrates. She states she is young, beautiful, caring... and a liar. The following stuff is NOT a lie. Urban has received awards for her art in competitions in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. Her paintings are included in the permanent collections of College of St. Mary, Omaha, Nebraska, and in the Omaha Public Schools. Her work may be seen at The Artists' Cooperative Gallery, 405 So. 11th St., Omaha, NE 68102. Urban's sometimes quirky thoughts about barriers to accessibility for the physically handicapped have been published in several books and magazines. |
